Mental Health First Aid focuses on the four most common mental health disorders including substance related, mood related, anxiety and trauma related, and psychotic disorders. Participants who take this course are well prepared to interact confidently about mental health with their family, friends, communities, and workplaces.
This training requires you complete pre-course work on your own a before the training session(s) with other learners. You will receive the pre-course with ample time to complete by the due date. Note that you must complete the pre-course work in order to participate in the group session.

- Tuesday, July 18 - Full day training session online via Zoom; or,
- Tuesday, August 15 - Full day training session in person at the union hall
MHFA counts towards your annual OH&S training!
Workers who are on a workplace Occupational Health & Safety Committee may apply their annual eight (8) hour training allotment to this program.
MHFA training may also qualify for those workers with training allowances in their collective agreement. Check your agreement, or talk to your shop steward or assistant business manager.
This certified training has a minimum and maximum number of participants. Sessions will be cancelled if minimum is not reached. If interest in a session exceeds capacity you will be placed onto a waitlist. Note that you must attend the entire training (no exceptions). Please only register if you are able and committed to attend.
Please note, members who no-show for training may be precluded from registering for future events and training opportunities.
MHFA training is certified by the Mental Health Commission of Canada. Participants must complete the entire training in order to receive their certificate. No exceptions.
