An electrical apprenticeship in British Columbia is a five-year program during which you work with journeyman electricians on the job, and also spend several weeks each year in the classroom. You are paid at a rate that increases as you proceed through your apprenticeship. At the end of your program you earn your Certificate of Qualification (often referred to as your Trade Qualification, or TQ), with an Inter-Provincial Red-Seal endorsement. The Red Seal trade qualification is accepted in most provinces without the need to re-qualify.
